Mr-Glass Windows & Doors in Miami, FL | Winslow Windows & Doors

Winslow Windows & Doors provides independent Mr-Glass repair and replacement across Miami, from Hialeah to Brownsville to the coastal corridors. We’re not a manufacturer call center; we’re the local crew that fixes what Miami’s salt air, humidity, and hurricane codes do to these windows. The thing that sets our Mr-Glass work apart here: we verify every unit against the Miami-Dade NOA database before we quote, so you don’t pay for a repair that fails inspection. Call (727) 860-0593 for a free estimate.

Why Miami Residents Choose Us for Mr-Glass Service

Ed Winslow grew up in Brownsville, and he’s been fixing windows in this county since before he put his own name on the truck. We know Mr-Glass model lines from the frame out, the 3900s, 5900s, 7900s, and 8900s, and we know how each one fails in Miami specifically. A 3900 single hung in Kendall doesn’t fail the same way a 5900 roller fails in Miami Beach. Corrosion travels differently here than it does in Broward or Palm Beach. That’s the kind of thing you only learn by pulling apart a few hundred of these units yourself. For more on the work we do, see our Mr-Glass sales & service page.

We answer the phone live, 24 hours a day, and we keep our published address and license number where anyone can check them. Ed’s name is on the door and on every job we do. My name’s on the truck. That means something.

Common Mr-Glass Windows & Doors Problems We Solve in Miami

Here’s what we actually see when we open up Mr-Glass units in this city:

  • Warped or cracked vinyl sashes on 3900 Single Hungs. Miami sun is relentless, and south-facing sashes on 1950s and 1960s CBS homes take a decade of direct UV before the corners start pulling away from the frame. We replace the sash when the frame is still square; we replace the whole unit when the frame has gone with it.
  • Roller track corrosion on 5900 Horizontal Rollers. Salt-laden air off Biscayne Bay eats aluminum tracks faster than anything we see inland. The rollers seize, the sash jumps, and you’re left with a window jammed half open in July. We use corrosion-resistant replacement rollers and re-seat the track rather than slapping grease on a dying frame.
  • Failed crank mechanisms on 7900 Casements. In high-humidity CBS homes around Westchester and Little Havana, the crank gears strip from years of moisture working into the housing. We replace the operator assembly with commercial-grade parts and re-flash the opening so water stops finding its way in.
  • Fogging between panes on 8900 Fixed/Picture units. Daily thermal cycling in Miami’s heat expands and contracts the dual-pane seals until they fail. Once the desiccant inside is saturated, the fog doesn’t clear on its own. That’s a glass replacement, not a repair.
  • Jalousie-to-Mr-Glass retrofits gone wrong. We see a lot of older Miami homes where someone ripped out original jalousies and installed Mr-Glass units without proper masonry anchoring. The window works, but it’s not anchored to code, and an inspector will catch it. We fix those retrofits properly.

Mr-Glass Service in Miami: What Local Conditions Mean for Your Equipment

Miami-Dade County does not accept a statewide Florida Building Code approval on window and door products. It requires a Notice of Acceptance, a product-specific NOA number, before any inspector signs off. That rule was born from Hurricane Andrew’s 1992 devastation, and it means every Mr-Glass unit in this county should carry an NOA label, not just a Florida stamp. We verify that label against the county’s online NOA database before quoting any replacement, because we’ve watched out-of-town crews show up with statewide-approved products that have no Miami-Dade NOA and get rejected on the spot. In older CBS homes around Hialeah and Westchester, we regularly find Mr-Glass units with NOA numbers from before the 2017 code update. Some of those we can repair. Some we have to flag for replacement, because the product no longer meets the current standard and the inspector will fail it regardless of how well it still operates. That’s not an upsell. That’s the county protecting you from the next Andrew. If you’re unsure whether your current units pass, call (727) 860-0593 and we’ll check the NOA records before we touch a single screw.

Mr-Glass Models & Products We Service in Miami

We work on the full Mr-Glass residential line: the 3900 Series Single Hung, 5900 Series Horizontal Roller, 7900 Series Casement, and 8900 Series Fixed/Picture. On repairable units we source Mr-Glass OEM rollers, balances, and weatherstripping wherever the manufacturer still supplies them. For out-of-production models, we use commercial-grade aftermarket parts matched to Miami’s corrosion profile, stainless where salt exposure is heavy, coated aluminum elsewhere. We repair whenever the frame and glass are structurally sound. We recommend full replacement only when the unit lacks a current Miami-Dade NOA or the frame or sill shows rot beyond a patch. Our Miami service area coverage is outlined on our Miami service area page.

On the replacement side, we install hurricane impact windows, horizontal roller and sliding impact windows, and vinyl replacement windows through our Window Installation in Miami service. Every installation is backed by the Done Right Promise: if it’s not done right, we make it right. Period.

Mr-Glass Service Pricing in Miami

Most Mr-Glass repairs in Miami fall between $150 and $600 depending on the part and the model. A roller replacement on a 5900 slider might run $150 to $250. A casement operator assembly on a 7900 runs $200 to $350. Glass replacement on a fogged 8900 fixed unit runs $300 to $550. Full replacements range widely depending on size and whether the unit is impact-rated, which in Miami-Dade it almost always has to be; learn more about our Impact Windows in Miami. What drives the cost: whether the model still carries an active NOA, how much of the frame survives, and whether we’re anchoring into concrete block or wood buck. Your free estimate includes the NOA verification, a written line-item quote, and our fixed pricing with no change orders. We also offer $40 off any repair over $200 and a free second opinion on any written estimate. Call (727) 860-0593 for an exact quote, estimates are free.

What Neighbors Say About Winslow Windows & Doors

★★★★★

"We sat out a hurricane behind the windows Ed put in. The gusts threw a neighbour's trampoline down the street and the loudest thing in our house was the kettle. I rang him after to say thank you and he answered his own phone, same as always."

TThaddeus Okonkwo
★★★★★

"He replaced the front door and the garage door in the same week, both rated for impact, and lined the frames up so straight my level had nothing to say. My wife stopped hearing the highway from the front room."

MMaximilian Vasquez
★★★★★

"The old aluminium sliders howled every afternoon storm and swelter came straight through the glass. The new impact sliders shut with a sound like a bank vault and the back rooms finally hold their temperature."
